A Catholic Christmas gift for a godchild or grandchild
A year of AngelGuard is a Catholic Christmas gift for a godchild, a grandchild or a friend far away: morning and evening prayers, read aloud, on their own phone, and it can arrive on Christmas morning.
Why give it at Christmas
At a baptism, godparents take on a real task. The Catechism says they must be «able and ready to help the newly baptized … on the road of Christian life» (CCC 1255). Grandparents often carry the same task without a title, because the family is where most of us first learned to pray.
Christmas gifts are usually things to unwrap. This one is a help for the days after Christmas: morning and evening prayers, read aloud, waiting on their phone when the day starts and when it ends.
The gift does not pray for anyone, and it does not replace your own prayer for them. It puts the Church's prayers within reach. The praying is theirs.
What they receive
A year of AngelGuard on their own account:
- Morning and evening prayers, read aloud.
- More than 150 prayers read aloud, with the words on screen as they are read.
- Reading plans through Scripture (Psalm 91 in 14 days, for one).
- Sleep stories and quiet music for the night.
There is nothing for them to pay, and nothing renews. The year starts on the day they open the gift. When it ends, it simply ends: nothing is charged, and AngelGuard's free prayers stay open to them.
AngelGuard is a lay Catholic app, made by lay people. It is not run by a priest, a parish or a ministry, and its own prayers are not official texts of the Church.
How it arrives
You choose the morning: today, Christmas morning, or another date. It arrives at 7 in the morning, your time.
You also choose how it reaches them:
- You send the link yourself, by text, WhatsApp or any chat app.
- AngelGuard sends it: one email to them, on the morning you chose. We use their address only to send this gift, once.
- You give it by hand: a card to print, with their link and a small QR code. In December the card carries a painting of the manger.
Your first name is on the gift, and so are a few words of your own if you want to add them. They see these on the card and when they open the gift.
They open the link on their phone, get AngelGuard, and sign in. The year is then theirs.
How to give it
- Write their first name and yours. Add a line to them if you like.
- Choose the morning it arrives.
- Choose how it reaches them.
- Pay once, securely through Stripe. You don't need the app or an account to give it.
After paying, you can save the card to send or print it.
$39.99 for one year. Paid once. Nothing renews.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are some good religious Christmas gifts?
The lasting ones help with daily prayer: a rosary, a Bible or a book of the Gospels, a crucifix for a bedroom wall, or a medal of their patron saint. A year of AngelGuard sits beside these. It brings morning and evening prayers, read aloud, to the phone they already carry.
What should a godparent give a godchild for Christmas?
Something that helps with what you promised at their baptism: to help them on the road of Christian life (CCC 1255). For a small child, that might be a children's Bible or a picture of their guardian angel. For an older godchild, it might be a rosary, the life of their patron saint, or a year of AngelGuard on their own phone.
Is AngelGuard suitable for a young child?
AngelGuard is made for teenagers and adults, and it is not meant for children under 13. For a younger godchild or grandchild, you could give the year to a parent instead, for prayers the family says together.
What if they already use AngelGuard?
If they use the free version, the year opens on their account. If they already pay for AngelGuard, nothing is paid twice: they can pass the gift to someone else, or return it, and you get the full amount back.
Do I need the app to give it?
No. You give it here on the website and pay once through Stripe. Only the person who receives it uses the app.
Will they be charged when the year ends?
No. They never pay anything, and nothing renews. When the year is over, it ends by itself, and AngelGuard's free prayers stay open to them.
