Sleep Meditation on God's Names

Lord, tonight I do not bring You my requests. I do not bring You my worries. I simply bring You… You. I want to fall asleep meditating on who You are. "Those who know your name will put their trust in you, for you, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you." — Psalm 9:10 You are YAHWEH — the I AM. The self-existent One. Before time began, You were. When time ends, You will be. Tonight, as I lie in the dark, You are — eternal, unchanging, present. [Pause. Breathe. Let that settle.] You are JEHOVAH SHALOM — the Lord my Peace. Not the world's fragile peace that breaks at the first sign of trouble, but a deep, unshakeable, supernatural peace. Your peace does not depend on my circumstances. It depends on Your character. [Pause. Breathe. Receive His peace.] You are JEHOVAH RAPHA — the Lord who Heals. As I sleep tonight, You are healing. Restoring cells. Calming inflammation. Processing emotions. Mending what the day broke. The Great Physician works the night shift. [Pause. Breathe. Let Him heal.] You are JEHOVAH NISSI — the Lord my Banner. In battle, the banner tells the soldiers whose side they are on. Tonight, I sleep under Your banner. I belong to You. The enemy sees Your flag over me and knows I am claimed. [Pause. Breathe. Feel His protection.] You are JEHOVAH ROI — the Lord my Shepherd. I shall not want. He makes me lie down — yes, lie down — in green pastures. This bed is my green pasture tonight. This pillow, my place of rest beside still waters. [Pause. Breathe. Rest in His care.] You are EL SHADDAI — God Almighty, God All-Sufficient. I need nothing beyond You. In You I am complete. In You I am safe. In You I am home. [Let your breathing slow. Let your thoughts quiet. Let His names be the last words on your heart tonight.] Amen.
