The Blessing of Aaron

Lord, before I close my eyes, I receive the blessing You commanded Aaron to speak over Your people — the same blessing that has been spoken over believers for over three thousand years: "The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace." — Numbers 6:24-26 THE LORD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU: Father, bless me tonight. Not with things, but with Yourself. Your presence is my greatest blessing. And keep me — guard me, watch over me, preserve me. Keep me from the evil one. Keep me from my own foolishness. Keep me close to Your heart. THE LORD MAKE HIS FACE SHINE ON YOU: Lord, let me sense Your face turned toward me tonight. Not turned away in disappointment. Not hidden behind a cloud. But shining — radiant — beaming with the delight of a Father looking at a child He loves beyond measure. AND BE GRACIOUS TO YOU: I need Your grace, Lord. Not just forgiveness for my sins, but empowering grace for my life. Grace to be patient. Grace to be kind. Grace to trust when understanding fails. Grace for tonight. Grace for tomorrow. Grace upon grace. THE LORD TURN HIS FACE TOWARD YOU: Lord, You are not looking the other way tonight. You are not distracted by the universe. You are turned toward me. Focused on me. Attentive to me. The God of ten billion galaxies is paying attention to one person, in one bed, on one night. This is grace. AND GIVE YOU PEACE: Shalom. Not just the absence of conflict, but the presence of wholeness. Completeness. Nothing missing, nothing broken. Lord, give me that kind of peace tonight. The kind that sinks deep into my bones and lets my body know it is safe to rest. I receive this blessing. I receive this peace. I receive this sleep as a gift from the God who loves me. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
