Prayer for Freedom from Fear

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I come to You burdened by fear, and I ask You to set me free.

"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear: but of power, and of love, and of sobriety." — 2 Timothy 1:7, Douay-Rheims (Challoner)

Lord, I bring to You the ways fear has weighed on me. You know how it has unsettled my sleep, troubled my peace, and held back my faith. Where fear has narrowed the heart You made for charity, heal me. Where fear has silenced the witness You asked of me, strengthen me. Where fear has held me back from the path of Your providence, lead me on. Father, heal and order this fear within me, for I belong wholly to You, and nothing can separate me from Your love.

I surrender to You my fear of the future:

Lord, tomorrow belongs to You. I do not know what it holds, but I know who holds it. I lay down my worry about what may come, and where anxiety lingers beyond my will, I entrust even that to Your mercy. Give me the faith I need for today.

I surrender to You my fear of others:

I let go of living for the approval of others, and I will not shrink back from the truth. Lord, let it be enough to be seen and loved by You, and let me seek to please You alone.

I surrender to You my fear of death:

Your Son has conquered death and opened the gates of heaven. Lord, heal this fear in my heart, and teach me to live fully because my life is hidden in You.

I surrender to You my fear of evil:

Father, when anxious or false thoughts magnify the darkness and forget the victory of Your Son on the Cross, draw my mind back to Christ. Let me fix my eyes on Christ the King and walk in the peace He won for me.

Saint Michael the Archangel, pray for me; ask the Lord to defend me in this battle, to guard me from disordered fear, and to turn my heart to trust in Him.

Mary, Mother of God, who heard the angel say "Fear not," pray for me, that I may be led ever more faithfully to your Son.

Father, pour Your perfect love into every place in my heart where fear has settled. Your Word promises that perfect charity casteth out fear. Fill me, renew me, and transform me with Your love, and preserve in me that holy fear of the Lord which is the beginning of wisdom.

Through Christ our Lord, who is my refuge and my peace. Amen.
