Prayer for Depression

Lord, I am in a dark place. The heaviness will not lift. Some days I can barely get out of bed. The things that once brought me joy feel colorless and distant. I feel like I am drowning, and no one can see it. But You see me, Lord. You are close to me, even now. "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." — Psalm 34:18 Lord, I do not ask You to snap Your fingers and make this go away. I ask You to walk through this valley with me. I ask You to carry me when I cannot walk on my own. I reject the lie that I am alone. I reject the lie that this will never end. I reject the lie that I am a burden. I reject the lie that the world would be better without me. These are lies from the enemy, and I refuse them in Jesus' name. Lord, I ask You to: • Lift the fog that clouds my mind and steals my hope • Restore the chemical balance in my brain that You designed • Send people who understand and do not judge • Give me the courage to ask for help — both spiritual and medical • Remind me daily that I am loved and I have purpose Father, I choose to trust You even when I cannot feel You. I choose to praise You even when I have no strength. I choose to live, because You have chosen me. Holy Spirit, breathe hope into me. Even now. Even here. Amen.
