The Night is Not Dark to You

Lord, the darkness is pressing in tonight, and with it comes an unease that I cannot fully explain. Something about the night makes me feel vulnerable — exposed — as if the things I can push away during the day have more power in the quiet hours. But Your Word reminds me: "If I say, 'Surely the darkness will overwhelm me, the light around me will be night,' even the darkness doesn’t hide from you, but the night shines as the day. The darkness is like light to you." — Psalm 139:11-12 Lord, what is dark to me is not dark to You. You see everything — every corner of my room, every thought in my mind, every spirit in the atmosphere. Nothing catches You by surprise in the night. Nothing operates outside Your sight. YOU ARE IN THE DARKNESS WITH ME: Not because You belong to the darkness, but because You refuse to leave me alone in it. The darkness is not Your enemy — it is merely the absence of light, and You ARE the Light. Where You are, darkness has no power. THE NIGHT CANNOT HIDE ANYTHING FROM YOU: If there is something in the spiritual realm operating under the cover of darkness — You see it. If there is a threat approaching while I sleep — You are aware of it. If the enemy plans an ambush in the small hours — You have already prepared my defense. I CHOOSE NOT TO FEAR THE NIGHT: I will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day. I will not fear what lurks in the shadows, because the One who loves me is Lord of both shadow and light. Lord, be my nightlight. Not a dim glow in the corner, but a blazing fire that fills every room of my house and every chamber of my heart with Your holy, protective, fearless light. I sleep in the Light. I sleep in Your arms. I sleep in peace. Amen.
