Healing from Addiction

Lord Jesus, I come to You with a struggle I have carried for too long. An addiction that has wrapped its chains around me — tighter with every passing year. I have tried to break free on my own. I have failed. Again and again. And the shame of those failures keeps me stuck in a cycle I cannot escape. "If therefore the son shall make you free, you shall be free indeed." — John 8:36 Lord, I believe this promise. Not because I have evidence yet. Not because I feel free. But because You said it, and You do not lie. I NAME MY ADDICTION BEFORE YOU: [Whatever it is — alcohol, drugs, pornography, food, gambling, screens, relationships, approval — name it. God already knows. Speaking it removes its power to hide.] Lord, I have been ashamed of this for so long. I have hidden it. I have minimized it. I have told myself "I can stop whenever I want." But I cannot. And today I stop pretending. I RENOUNCE THE LIE THAT THIS IS WHO I AM: I am not an addict. I am a child of God who struggles with addiction. There is a difference. My struggle does not define me. My identity in Christ defines me. And Christ says I am free. I ASK FOR YOUR INTERVENTION: Lord, I need more than willpower. Willpower got me nowhere. I need supernatural power. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead — I need that power working in me, breaking chains that human effort cannot break. I ASK FOR THE RIGHT HELP: Lord, if I need professional help — a counselor, a group, a program — remove my pride and lead me there. Healing is not weakness. Asking for help is not failure. It is the bravest thing I can do. I ASK FOR PATIENCE WITH MYSELF: If I stumble, Lord, do not let me quit. The path to freedom is not a straight line. It has setbacks. But every day I choose recovery over surrender is a victory — even if it does not look like one. Lord, You broke the chains of death. You can break the chains of addiction. I believe it. Set me free. Indeed. Amen.
