GUIDED SPIRITUAL WARFARE TRAINING An 18-Minute Guided Session on Spiritual Warfare This is a training session. We are going to equip you with the knowledge and prayers you need to stand firm against the attacks of the enemy. Spiritual warfare is real. The devil is real. And most Catholics are completely unprepared. Today, that changes for you. Let us begin with prayer. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Lord Jesus Christ, open our minds to understand the spiritual battle we are in. Give us the wisdom to recognize the enemy's tactics, the courage to resist him, and the faith to trust in Your victory. Holy Spirit, be our teacher. Saint Michael, be our defender. Amen. ═══════════════════════════════════════ LESSON 1: THE REALITY OF SPIRITUAL WARFARE ═══════════════════════════════════════ The first thing you need to understand is that you are in a war. You did not choose this war. You were born into it. The moment you were baptized, you became a target. Saint Paul makes this crystal clear: "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." — Ephesians 6:12 The people who frustrate you, the situations that oppress you, the thoughts that torment you — these are often not just human problems. There is a spiritual dimension to your struggles that most people never address. Experienced exorcists teach that demonic activity has increased dramatically in our time. Not because the devil has more power — he does not. But because more people have opened doors to him through: • The occult: Ouija boards, tarot cards, horoscopes, psychics, reiki, new age practices • Grave sin: especially sins of impurity, which are one of the primary entry points for demonic influence • Unforgiveness: holding grudges gives the enemy a legal right to torment you • Trauma: unhealed wounds create vulnerabilities the enemy exploits • Generational sin: patterns of sin and spiritual bondage passed down through family lines Have any of these been present in your life? Be honest with yourself. This is not about shame — it is about awareness. You cannot fight what you do not see. [Pause. Reflect honestly.] ═══════════════════════════════════════ LESSON 2: THE ENEMY'S TACTICS ═══════════════════════════════════════ The devil is not creative. He uses the same tactics he has used for thousands of years. Once you learn them, you can recognize them. TACTIC 1: TEMPTATION The enemy's first approach is always temptation. He starts small and subtle. A thought. A feeling. A suggestion. "Just this once." "No one will know." "You deserve it." Remember that temptation itself is not a sin. Even Jesus was tempted in the desert. Sin enters when you consent to the temptation — when you entertain it, dwell on it, and choose it. TACTIC 2: ACCUSATION When temptation succeeds — and it will sometimes succeed, because you are human — the enemy immediately switches from tempter to accuser. "You are worthless." "God could never forgive that." "You are a hypocrite." "Why even try?" He pushes you to sin, then condemns you for sinning. Do not fall for this. Conviction comes from the Holy Spirit and leads to repentance. Condemnation comes from the enemy and leads to despair. Learn the difference. TACTIC 3: DIVISION The enemy divides to conquer. He causes conflict in marriages, families, friendships, and churches. He amplifies misunderstandings. He weaponizes small offenses. He whispers different lies to each side until unity is destroyed. If there is persistent, irrational conflict in your relationships, consider the possibility that it is not entirely natural. TACTIC 4: DECEPTION The devil is the father of lies. He disguises evil as good. He makes dangerous things look harmless. He repackages ancient occult practices under modern labels: "mindfulness" that opens you to spiritual entities, "energy healing" that invokes unnamed powers, "manifesting" that is essentially sorcery rebranded. Not everything popular is safe. Test everything against Scripture and the teaching of the Church. TACTIC 5: ISOLATION The enemy wants you alone. Away from the sacraments. Away from community. Away from accountability. A sheep separated from the flock is easy prey. If you find yourself pulling away from Mass, from prayer, from your Catholic community — recognize it as a tactic and resist it. [Pause. Which of these tactics have you experienced? Name it.] ═══════════════════════════════════════ LESSON 3: YOUR WEAPONS ═══════════════════════════════════════ Now for the good news. You are not defenseless. God has given you an arsenal. Let us go through each weapon. WEAPON 1: THE NAME OF JESUS "That in the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those that are in heaven, on earth, and under the earth." — Philippians 2:10. Demons must obey the name of Jesus. When you are under attack, speak His name aloud. "Jesus. Jesus. Jesus." The enemy cannot stand before that name. WEAPON 2: THE PRECIOUS BLOOD The Blood of Jesus is your covering and your shield. Plead it over yourself, your family, and your home daily. "Lord Jesus, I plead Your Precious Blood over me." This is not a magic formula — it is an act of faith that invokes the power of the Cross. WEAPON 3: THE SACRAMENTS Confession and the Eucharist are your most powerful spiritual weapons. A good Confession can break demonic holds that no amount of prayer alone can break. The Eucharist is the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ — the devil flees from His real presence. Go to Mass. Go to Confession. Frequently. WEAPON 4: THE ROSARY Our Lady's weapon of choice. Every Hail Mary is a blow against the enemy. Pray it daily. The fifteen promises of the Rosary include protection from Satan and his temptations. The families that pray the Rosary together stay together and stay protected. WEAPON 5: HOLY WATER AND SACRAMENTALS Holy water blessed by a priest is a powerful weapon. Keep it in your home. Bless yourself and your family daily. Sprinkle it in your rooms. The Brown Scapular, the Miraculous Medal, blessed salt — these are not superstitions. They are the Church's spiritual armor, filled with the prayers of centuries of saints. WEAPON 6: SCRIPTURE Jesus defeated the devil in the desert by quoting Scripture: "It is written..." The Word of God is the sword of the Spirit. Memorize key verses. Speak them aloud when under attack. The enemy cannot argue with God's Word. WEAPON 7: FASTING Jesus said: "This kind can go out by nothing, but by prayer and fasting." — Mark 9:29. Fasting weakens the flesh and strengthens the spirit. Even small fasts — skipping a meal, giving up a comfort — have spiritual power beyond what you imagine. [Pause. Which weapons have you been neglecting?] ═══════════════════════════════════════ PRACTICAL EXERCISE: MORNING WARFARE PRAYER ═══════════════════════════════════════ Let us now pray together the kind of prayer you should be praying every morning. Repeat each line from your heart: Lord Jesus Christ, I begin this day by placing myself under Your authority and protection. I put on the full armor of God: the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the Gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit. I plead Your Precious Blood over my mind, my body, my soul, and my spirit. I plead Your Blood over my family, my home, my workplace, and everything I own. Lord Jesus, drive far from me every evil spirit sent against me today — every temptation, deception, confusion, fear, lust, anger, division, and distraction. In Your holy name, let none of them have any claim on me. Come, Holy Spirit: fill me, lead me, and protect me. Father, send Your holy angels to surround me and my family. Let the fire of Your Spirit burn away every scheme of the enemy. Saint Michael the Archangel, defend me in battle. Guardian Angel, stand at my side. Blessed Mother Mary, cover me with your mantle. This day belongs to the Lord. I walk in His authority. I live under His protection. No weapon formed against me shall prosper. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen. ═══════════════════════════════════════ CLOSING ═══════════════════════════════════════ You are now better equipped than most Christians. But knowledge without practice is useless. Here is your homework: 1. Pray the morning warfare prayer every single day. 2. Go to Confession within the next week. 3. Pray the Rosary daily — even one decade is powerful. 4. Get holy water from your parish and use it. 5. Identify one open door in your life and close it. "Be subject therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." — James 4:7 He will flee. Not might. Will. Stand firm. Fight the good fight. And never, ever forget: the war is already won. Jesus Christ is victorious. And you are on the winning side.
