The Prayer of Surrender and Trust

Lord, I come to You today with open hands and a willing heart. I have been trying so hard to protect myself, to plan for every outcome, to maintain control — and I am exhausted. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." — Proverbs 3:5-6 I realize, Father, that my need to control is itself a form of fear. Fear that things will fall apart if I let go. Fear that no one will take care of what matters to me. Fear that I will be left vulnerable. But You are asking me to trust. Not to understand, not to predict, not to manage — just to trust. SO I SURRENDER MY PLANS: Lord, I had plans for how today, this week, this year would go. I surrender them to You. Not because my plans are bad, but because Yours are infinitely better. If You close a door I wanted to walk through, I will trust that You have a better one. I SURRENDER MY WORRIES: Every anxious thought — I hand it to You. The health concern that keeps me up at night. The financial pressure that tightens my chest. The relationship that I cannot fix. I give it all to You, because You care for me. I SURRENDER MY LOVED ONES: This is the hardest part, Lord. I cannot protect everyone I love. But You can. I place them in Your hands — hands that were pierced for love of us. Hands that hold the universe together. Hands that are infinitely more capable than mine. I SURRENDER MY FUTURE: I do not know what tomorrow holds. But I know that You are already there, preparing the way. I choose to walk forward in faith, one step at a time, trusting that the path will appear under my feet as I go. The safest place in the universe is in the center of God's will. Lord, I want to be there. I surrender. I trust. I rest. In Jesus' name. Amen.
