Healing of Memories

Lord Jesus, I invite You into my memory. Into the places I have locked away. Into the moments I try not to think about. Into the scenes that replay without my permission — in the quiet of the night, in the middle of a normal day, triggered by a sound or a smell or a word. "Don’t remember the former things, and don’t consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing. It springs out now. Don’t you know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert." — Isaiah 43:18-19 Lord, I do not ask You to erase my memories. They are part of my story, and my story is in Your hands. But I ask You to remove the sting. To defuse the bomb that detonates every time I remember. GO BACK TO THAT MOMENT, LORD: The moment of abuse — You were there. You did not cause it, and You wept over it. But You were there. Enter that memory now, Lord. Let me see You in the room. Let me feel Your presence in the place where I felt most alone. GO BACK TO THAT REJECTION: The words that told me I was not enough. Not smart enough, not pretty enough, not worthy of love. Those words are not from You. They were spoken by broken people out of their own brokenness. Lord, speak Your truth louder than those words: I am chosen. I am loved. I am fearfully and wonderfully made. GO BACK TO THAT LOSS: The grief that never fully healed. The goodbye that still echoes. Lord, I do not need to "get over it" — I need to get through it, with You. Walk me through the grief. Let me mourn without being consumed. GO BACK TO THAT FAILURE: The moment I let everyone down — including myself. Lord, I have punished myself for this long enough. Your Blood covers this failure. Your grace is sufficient. Help me forgive myself as completely as You have forgiven me. Lord, You are making all things new. Even my memories. Even my past. Even the parts of my story I wish I could rewrite. You do not rewrite them — You redeem them. In Jesus' healing name. Amen.
