Prayer for a Loved One Who Is Sick

Lord, I come before You today not for myself, but for someone I love who is suffering. You know their name. You know their diagnosis. You know their pain — better than I do, better than they do.

In Mark's Gospel, four friends carried a paralyzed man to Jesus. When the crowd blocked the door, they did not give up — they tore open the roof and lowered him down. "When Jesus had seen their faith, he said to the sick of the palsy: Son, thy sins are forgiven thee... Arise, take up thy bed, and go into thy house." — Mark 2:3-5, 11

Lord, I am that friend today. I am tearing open the roof. I am lowering my loved one down to Your feet because they may not have the strength to come on their own.

JESUS, LOOK AT MY FAITH:

My loved one may be too exhausted to pray. Too discouraged to believe. Too overwhelmed to hope. So I pray on their behalf. I believe on their behalf. I hope on their behalf. Let my faith be credited to their account.

JESUS, TOUCH THEM:

You touched lepers when everyone else recoiled. You touched the coffin of the widow's son. You touched blind eyes and deaf ears. Touch my loved one now. Lay Your healing hands on their body and speak health where there is disease.

JESUS, COMFORT THEM:

Beyond the physical pain, there is fear. Fear of what the illness means. Fear of being a burden. Fear of what comes next. Lord, speak peace to their fearful heart. Let them know they are not alone — that You are there, and that I am there, and that we are not going anywhere.

JESUS, GIVE WISDOM TO THEIR DOCTORS:

Guide every medical professional involved in their care. Give them insight, skill, and compassion. Let them find the right diagnosis and the right treatment. Use human hands as instruments of Your healing.

I will not stop praying until I see breakthrough. I will not stop believing until I see healing. I will not stop coming to You until my loved one is whole.

In Your mighty name. Amen.
