Surrendering the Day's Anxieties

Lord, I just woke up and the anxiety is already here. Before my feet hit the floor, my mind is racing — the tasks, the deadlines, the conversations I am dreading, the problems from yesterday that followed me into today. "And which of you by taking thought, can add to his stature by one cubit?" — Matthew 6:27 No, Lord. Worry adds nothing. It only takes — takes my peace, my focus, my joy, my health. And yet every morning, I reach for it like a reflex. Not today. THIS MORNING, I CHOOSE TRUST OVER WORRY: Lord, I do not know how today will go. I do not know if the news will be good or bad. I do not know if I will succeed or stumble. But I know that You will be with me in every moment, and that is enough. THIS MORNING, I CHOOSE PRESENCE OVER PROJECTION: I will not live this day twice — once in anxious anticipation and once in reality. I will live it once, in the present, with You. This morning is enough. This moment is enough. THIS MORNING, I CHOOSE PRAYER OVER PANIC: Instead of spiraling through worst-case scenarios, I bring each concern to You: The thing I am most worried about — I give it to You. The person I am most anxious about — I give them to You. The situation that feels out of control — I give it to You. THIS MORNING, I RECEIVE YOUR PEACE: Not the world's peace, which is just the absence of conflict. Your peace — the kind that guards my heart and mind, that passes understanding, that remains steady even when everything around me shakes. "Behold the birds of the air, for they neither sow, nor do they reap, nor gather into barns: and your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are not you of much more value than they?" — Matthew 6:26 I am more valuable to You than the birds. You will take care of me today. I believe it. In Jesus' name. Amen.
